The Portologist

Author Ruud Scholten is a Dutch port wine geek who created a pioneering online port wine shop in 2013 and now runs prtwine.com - one of the world’s top online port resources.

Scholten has spent almost a decade visiting the Douro’s iconic port wine estates, their lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia and the best wine and cocktail venues in Porto. He is also active as a photographer and travels the world to connect with cultures on every continent.

Why this cocktail book?

Ruud wants to change the way people think about port wines. Port can be so much fun. It's a drink that has it all. Telling stories behind every bottle, from producers that have been around since the 16th century, but also being able to be super hip and fun to play around with, creating the best cocktails in the world. Whether it's a classic recipe or something brand new, port wine will take you on a discovery of wines and flavours like never before.
